This is how to add new paint to a golf club whether you want to touch up a spot that has come out or if you simply want a fresh look by changing the colour or design etc
.
I did a lot of trial and error with the process to find the best way of going about it like when to wipe the excess away and stuff and this is what I found to work the best
.
So leaving the club in either nail polish remover or acetone for an hour or so makes it infinitely easier to remove the old paint and makes it a lot less likely to scratch your club when removing
.
If you leave it in long enough it will basically just drop out in the shape of the letter or number and all you have to do is just pick one point with something sharp and pointy and the rest will follow easy enough
.
If you can’t leave it to soak for whatever reason then you can apply some to the area that your removing by using a cotton bud and then getting the pick on it again
.
As I mentioned though you need to be careful not to slip the pick out of the slot as it will scratch the club in most cases.
Something else to be careful of is accidentally getting the acetone on the ferrule as it will mess it up although it isn’t to difficult of a fix if you do happen to by mistake
.
Once it’s removed then you can add the paint to the section. I use g paint specifically for golf clubs which I find works best but there is a few options out there
.
You want to make sure it’s all mixed into the area quite evenly which you can do using a tee but it should naturally fill it evenly if you lie it flat anyway
.
Then this is the part I was trying to figure out. Right after applying the new paint it’s a good idea to wipe away the excess very gently and lightly over the top of the painted area. This stops it from clumping together and it will look 10x better. It makes it so much easier then that when you leave it to dry from there you can go back over it with a paper towel and acetone and it will wipe away all the mess
